{
cold pizza + fried chicken = best meal ever}
seriously. if you've been up virtually 24 hours and hadn't eaten much over the past few hours, such a meal at around 6 in the morning is a God-send (well, there's that and the fact that i'll eat almost anything, but that's another story. hahaha). Finished two consecutive 6-hour shifts for the barops this morning and once again i find myself tired and stressing about the fact that thus far, i haven't studied much for class tomorrow. but despite the ickiness of not getting any sleep then sleeping practically the rest of the day away, i feel fulfilled in that i know my blockmates and i really worked hard (and had tons of fun in the process).
in the course of 12 hours of duty,
i realized that
:
1. although my blockmates and i are first year law students, we're still kids at heart (naks! hehehe, nope, not a euphemism for immature :s). we had fun "racing" while delivering bar tips (go, carmi!), telling corny jokes, enjoying hot fudge sundaes and junkfood, and talking about the weirdest, most mundane things.
2. you're not expected to know everything as a first year law student. seriously. although i was for the longest time under the impression that you're left to fend for yourself in law school since there's that presumption of wisdom that comes with age (hahahah...i'm so old :p), it's impossible to know everything. you have to either learn it along the way or learn it from other people. that is why i realized you just kind of have to go with the flow. (came across this realization during a
lucid interval
while talking with my blockmate about law school life.)
3. people are inherently good (or at least i would like to believe that). the mere fact that there were many volunteers for the barops giving up their normal sleep and saturday nights says something. sure, they try to encourage volunteers by invoking good karma, but i believe people help more even deeper reasons than
quid pro quo
. i could see people really giving it all they had, not because they believe that it will all pay off once they take the bar, but because they just want to do good and simply help. that, and the fact that it is actually quite fun. :)
4. people do the strangest things when they are devoid of decent sleep. at least in my case. case in point, i was typing on my blockmate's laptop past 2 am
attempting
to study, but since we had to leave to pick up breakfast orders, i decided to save the file in my flash drive which was hanging around my neck. instead of doing what any normal person would do which would be to detach the drive from the clip attaching it to the chain or even removing it from my neck, i leaned close to the laptop and attempted to attach the flash drive to it. that's when my blockmate saw me, started to laught, and asked why i just didn't detach it. talk about stupidity. and the sad part was, it didn't even occur to me to detach it until then. oh well, that at least made for some good laughs. aside from that, i found myself saying the oddest and most incoherent things, especially during early in the morning, the time i call my chatty mode wherein i just get extremely talkative. then, at around 6am while we were getting ready to leave and i was with my blockmates, all of whom were girls except for one, i told my guy blockmate,
"kevin, you're the only GIRL here."
hahaha. talk about
sabog
.
5. i'm very thick-skinned (i.e.,
makapal and mukha ko
, if that's even the correct english translastion). seriously. we had to deliver tips to someone who was staying in another hotel and is part of a certain organization. unlike last time we delivered tips wherein i
KNEW
beforehand that a couple of friends of mine from that particular org were there, i wasn't sure that they were in the hotel or even awake at the unholy hour of 3am. but being the thick-faced person that i am, i called one of my friends only to find out that i had waken him from his sleep. since he wasn't there i proceeded to call/text just about everyone i could think of from that org whose cell number i had. so there i was calling friends and even the head of that org. since they didn't pick up, i figured that they were asleep (i really hope i didn't wake them up). thankfully, just as i was getting all panicky in the lobby, in walks someone i know from that org. i felt both relieved and embarrassed thinking of all the missed calls to the other people. oh well. i just hope they didn't get
that
annoyed. hahaha.
